LATVIAN VHF QSO SPRINT RULES

Goal:    To elevate Latvian amateur’s interest and craftsmanship on VHF, prospect communication facilities with Amateurs outside Latvia during Contest hours.

Participants:            Any licenced Amateur from Latvia and other countries.

Contest period:   21st of  September 2003, from 05.00 untill 07.00 UTC with purpose expand it to each odd Month third Sunday, six times per Year at the same Time.

Frequencies: 2m Band acording the IARU Region 1 Band Plan.

Type of emission: CW, SSB, FM. Each station in the same mode can be worked after 60 minutes. Contact with the same station in other mode allowed:

-         after at least five minutes  from previous QSO or

-         Between contacts in different modes must be QSO with an other station.

 

Any duplicate contacts should be logged without claim for points and clearly marked as duplicates. Contacts made via active repeaters do not count for points. Any telephony contacts made with stations transmitting in the telegraphy sub-band shall not count for points. Contacts made in “MIXED” mode do not count for points.

Amateurs from other Countries must have at least one Contact with station from Latvia.

A - Single operator multi mode (SOMM – All Modes) (Latvia)

B - Single operator multi mode (SOMM – All Modes) (Outside Latvia)

C - Single operator single mode  CW (SOSM – CW) (Latvia)

D - Single operator single mode  CW (SOSM – CW) (Outside Latvia)

E - Single operator single mode  SSB (SOSM – SSB) (Latvia)

E - Single operator single mode  SSB (SOSM – SSB) (Outside Latvia)

F - Single operator single mode  FM (SOSM – FM) (Latvia)

G - Single operator single mode  FM (SOSM – FM) (Outside Latvia)

 

QSOs may be made on several modes without jeopardizing single mode entry status. Such additional contacts are encouraged and should be reported as check log. The chosen single mode for SOSM account should be clearly indicated in the contest report.

 

Contest exchanges: Contest exchanges consist of RST/RS report followed by serial number, starting with 001 for the first contact and increasing by one for each successive contact, and the complete WW locator of the sending station. Example 579 023 KO26AA or 58 014 KO24NF.

 

Scoring:       points will be scored on the basis of one point per kilometre, i.e. the calculated distance in km will be truncated to an integer value and 1 km will be added. The factor for conversion from degree to kilometres is 111.2. Different WW squares will be counted as Multipliers for each Mode. The total score is a sum of points multiplied by sum of Multipliers. If two or more stations submit equal score, the log with the better multiplier wins.

 

Logs: As it is adopted from the BCC Rules, „ the following data must be included: Operator’s name, category, call sign, address and QTH locator, scoring information and a signed declaration that all contest rules and regulations for amateur radio in the country of operation have been observed. ” Electronic logs sent via e-mail are encouraged. Any ASCII formats will be preferred.

For each QSO: date, time in UTC, worked station, report sent and report received must be given.

 

Disqualification: Violation of amateur radio regulations in the country of the contestant or the rules of the contest, also unsportsmanlike deportment, taking credit for unverifiable contacts will be deemed sufficient cause for disqualification. Actions and decision of the contest committee are official and final.

 

Awards:      The Winners of each category awarded with trophies. Certificates will be awarded to the three top scoring stations in each category. First place certificates will be awarded to the top scoring stations in each DXCC country. In the countries where the log returns justify (4 or more received logs) second and third place awards will be issued.

 

Deadline:            LOG Entries must be postmarked no later than 22nd October (No later than 30 days after each tour) and sent to the address:
