Latvian radio amateur Kristers Misa (YL3JA) will represent Latvia this summer at one of the world’s most prestigious amateur radio competitions – the World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC 2026), which will take place in the United Kingdom from 8 to 13 July 2026.
WRTC is often referred to as the “Olympic Games of amateur radio sport.” The competition is held every four years and brings together some of the world’s best radiosport operators, who qualify for the championship through several years of international contest results.
Kristers will compete at WRTC 2026 as part of EU #1 Team 1 together with Estonian radio amateur ES7GM. A total of 50 two-operator teams from around the world will participate in the championship.
To ensure as equal competition conditions as possible, all teams are provided with comparable antenna systems, transmitter power limits and operating conditions. The main 24-hour competition will take place on 11–12 July, alongside the IARU HF World Championship.
This will not be Kristers’ first participation in a world-class radiosport event. He has previously demonstrated his skills on the international stage, representing Latvia and achieving strong results in high-level amateur radio competitions.
Kristers Misa’s participation in WRTC 2026 is co-financed by Tukums Municipality, providing valuable support for Latvia’s representation at one of the most prestigious amateur radio competitions in the world.
